Miss senior, Deuce Alexander, knows where he wants to go next. So he’s already becoming the player it will require.
He enters 2026 coming off a breakout season: 44 catches, 684 receiving yards, a College Football Playoff run and now the responsibility of wearing No. 1 for the Rebels…a number that means something.
A.J. Brown wore it. Jonathan Mingo wore it. And when Deuce was given the number, he went back and looked at the receivers who had worn it before him and where the game eventually took them.
Now it’s his turn.
For Deuce, getting ready for what’s next is beyond making plays. It’s about an entirely evolved process. Study differently. Prepare differently. Lead differently. In fact, last season, after one of his biggest games of the year, Deuce didn’t credit talent. He credited watching film with his coaches and the preparation the team had put in all week.
“It’s about becoming more of a professional because I’m getting toward the end of my college career. This could be my last year, and I know the next level is coming soon.”
The next level doesn’t begin when somebody gives you the opportunity. It begins when you start carrying yourself like you already belong there.
