Microsoft is reportedly dialing back some of its Copilot ambitions in Windows 11 as it responds to criticism that the operating system has become overloaded with AI features.
Plans to bring Copilot directly into notifications and the Settings app, which were announced in 2024, have quietly been scrapped. The company is now aiming to be more selective about where AI experiences and Copilot branding appear across the OS.
This shift is part of a broader effort to reduce perceived AI bloat and address growing user complaints about Windows 11 becoming cluttered with AI integrations, according to a report by Windows Central.
