I get at least 5 calls a day like this.

Someone spends 10 minutes explaining their computer problem.

Me: "I'd recommend we start with a diagnostic, and here's the fee."

Them: "Can you not do that and just fix it?"

No problem.

Hi everyone, Cory here from Cory’s Computer Repair in Turlock 👋

After listening to many seniors frustratingly express to me that they simply could not afford my normal $300/hr on-site rate with a 1-hour minimum, I decided to create a separate Senior Basic In-Home Assistance option specifically for fixed-income seniors age 65+.

It was never my intention to price out seniors, and I was raised to respect my elders. I know many just need patient, honest help with everyday technology issues without feeling overwhelmed or embarrassed asking for help.

I truly appreciate all the support this community has given my small business over the years ❤️

Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged RAM upgrade… and nothing about this was simple 😅

Most laptops have a small access panel on the bottom for RAM upgrades.
Not this one.

To get from 8GB to 16GB RAM, I had to:
• Fully tear the laptop down
• Remove multiple internal layers
• Carefully disconnect ribbon cables
• Flip the entire motherboard over just to access the RAM slots underneath

Built tough. Tough to upgrade. 💪

This is why some upgrades cost more labor than people expect because sometimes the RAM isn’t even accessible without major disassembly.

💻 Quick Computer Tip from Cory’s Computer Repair
If your computer is getting slower, freezing or randomly restarting or blue screening, don’t ignore it too long.
Those can be warning signs the drive storing your files is starting to fail. Family photos, documents, and important data can disappear fast once a drive fully dies.
A lot of people say:
“It was working yesterday.”
By then, recovery can become much more expensive or impossible.
If your computer has important files on it, now is the time to back them up or have it checked before it’s too late.

Customer had a graphics card & an AIO that were both overheating. It was pretty clear the culprit was dust built up choking the fans and the airflow through the metal grates. I got it nice and clean and this resolved the overheating issues.

Before you replace your laptop… read this 👇

That black or dark area on your screen?
Most of the time it’s just the LCD, not the whole laptop.

I replaced this screen and saved the customer from buying a new one 💻
