Meet Sana Rafaqat, one of the people you’ll work with when you partner with BASE.

Sana brings a combination we don't see often in IT: a CompTIA Security+ certification alongside a background in privacy law and policy. When she looks at a security problem, she's also thinking about data protection and compliance. That's a useful overlap to have on a team working with professional services firms.

What drew her to the field was a curiosity about how technology solves problems, plus the fact that cybersecurity and privacy keep evolving. Plenty to learn, which suits her.

Outside of work she paints with acrylics and oils, makes her way through a lot of word searches, and crochets when the mood strikes. Her fun fact is that despite a career in tech, she's pretty low-tech at home and likes it that way.

The Microsoft 365 you have today was set up for the firm you used to be. New people have joined since then. Ex-employees have come and gone, and the tenant they left behind has barely changed.

Most firms only notice the gap when something forces the question. By that point, the cost of fixing it is several times what a review would have been.

We took the whole team to Gameshow Battle Room after hours. Two teams of us went head-to-head at games such as Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune, and let's just say we saw a lot of competitiveness.

Most firms deploy Microsoft 365 with a thoughtful, considered setup.

Then nobody looks at it again.

Five or six years on, after a few rounds of staff turnover and a series of unreviewed feature rollouts, what's running doesn't resemble what was originally configured.

The day-to-day still works, which is why no one notices.
