Yep, still spooky 👻

Let's make their lives hard. Long, unique passwords or pass phrases (four random words together) are too much work for cybercriminals to hack.

Their softwares and AI test thousands of password combinations every second, and they love short, reused ones. But complex 16-character password or passphrase? It can take billions of years, and they don't have that time.

‣ Make every password/phrase unique to the account
‣ Make them random mixes of letters, numbers, and symbols
‣ Use a password manager to create and store ✨ awesome ✨ passwords (they're safe, easy to use, and often free!)

We talk about the grandparents a lot — the ways they're frequently targeted and why. But it's also worth bringing that conversation to the other end.

Our kids are targets, too. Never mind that they simply may not have the education or life experience yet to stay vigilant (though, there's that, too). They may also have a credit file that no one is watching.

While most young kids should not have credit file, once they hit college age, activity does begin (a first credit card, a student loan, etc.) and scammers are ready to take advantage of those new credit users.

So where should you start?

‣ First, check for a file, even if you don't think there is one.
‣ Request a credit freeze. It's free, and protects them from day 1.
‣ If your child is 18+, show them how and why to freeze their own.
‣ And educate your kids on their credit files and scams. Do this in a way that empowers them to come to you if something ever feels off.

You don't need to click. You don't need to respond. You don't need to answer the phone.

You aren't being rude. This bait is the leading cause of cybersecurity incidents. Scam operations target regular Americans like you and your grandma.

They impersonate your bank, your boss, a delivery company, customer support, even a family member. They want you to feel something so that you act fast — clicking links, opening their DM, responding to their "accidental" text, and, eventually, send them your hard-earned money.

‣ Be extremely cautious of unexpected messages
‣ Be skeptical of urgency, pressure, or fear-based requests
‣ Take 10 seconds to review, check, and think before action

Some of the best-prepared fans at today’s game learned their pom routine from the NDSU cheerleaders this week! 🏈 📣

This week, we had a blast joining North Dakota State Bison for an HPN ticket handoff at GiGi's Playhouse Fargo. The kids interviewed football players about what a day in their life looks like, and then finished the hour grabbing some pom-poms for a dance lesson from the cheer team. Add some game-day tees, and this crew is ready for game day!

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Enjoy the game today, Gigi’s crew. and Go Bison! 🦬

What do the kids these days say? Just a little photo dump? 📸

This week, our team headed out to Wings of Valor Lodge in Parker, South Dakota, for our annual pheasant hunt!

It might strike you as unconventional, but relaxed days like these, out of the office and doing something a little different, are a part of how we build relationships with the clients and partners who trust us with their networks and teams.

And, it's no surprise that some of the best conversations happen away from a desk, on a walk, doing something active together.
