Most manufacturing teams don’t have a scheduling problem.

They have a visibility problem.

Jobs are late before anyone can clearly explain why. Material risk, overloaded work centers, bad routings, missing labor feedback, and unrealistic promise dates all get buried until the customer is already asking for answers.

That is the problem I’ve been working on with Grimnir.

The goal is simple:

Know what’s late.
Know why.
Fix it before it costs you.

Still early, still improving, but this short demo shows the direction I think manufacturing software needs to go: practical, visual, and built around how the shop actually runs.

Quick update on Grimnir - noticed some issues with the download process. Cleaned it up and Grimnir now runs as a fully self-contained download.

Tested on a clean machine and running exactly how it should.

One note for early beta users:
Some antivirus software (Norton, etc.) may flag the launcher because of the bundled runtime. If that happens, you’ll need to allow the app or add an exception. This is a known issue with unsigned executables and will be resolved in a signed release.

This is exactly why I wanted to get it in front of people early — real-world testing surfaces the stuff you don’t see on your own machine.

A few people have asked about the name — Grimnir.

It comes from Norse mythology. Grimnir is one of Odin’s names. It means “the masked one” or “the hidden one.”

Odin was known for seeing everything — understanding what was really going on, even when it wasn’t obvious.

That’s exactly what I wanted this to be.

Most shops are running blind more than they realize. The data is there, but it’s buried — spread across jobs, operations, reports, and guesswork.

Grimnir is meant to pull that into one place and show you what’s actually happening:

- what’s late
- where things are getting stuck
- what’s going to become a problem next

Not another ERP. Not another system to manage.

Just visibility.

I didn’t build this as a startup idea.

I built it because I’ve been in the middle of it — chasing jobs, dealing with missed scans, trying to answer simple questions that somehow take 20 minutes to figure out.

This is the tool I wish I had.

Right now it’s early. It’s in beta. But it’s already doing what I needed it to do.

Long term, this goes way beyond a dashboard.

The goal is:

- real shop floor intelligence
- better planning decisions
- less firefighting
- eventually a system that actually learns from what happens on your floor
