Dear Client,
As you are aware, the Western Cape has been hit by a major storm over the past 24 hours.
We kindly ask clients who are currently offline or experiencing slower-than-normal speeds to please remain patient. Our teams are actively working on repairs where possible, but restoration work will only be carried out when it is safe to do so.
In addition to the severe weather conditions, there are also widespread power outages affecting many areas. Please note that all Jebo Connect sites are equipped with backup power systems, and we are well prepared for adverse weather. However, this storm is particularly challenging due to the combination of heavy rain and extremely strong winds.
We currently have two towers on the Bredasdorp and Napier mountain range that have sustained damage. Unfortunately, wind conditions on the mountain are nearly ten times stronger than in town, making repairs extremely dangerous at this stage. For the safety of our technicians, repairs to these sites will only proceed once conditions improve.
Our technical teams are doing everything possible to restore affected backhaul links where it is safe to do so.
At present, Struisbaai and Napier are operating on backup microwave links, as the primary fibre routes feeding these towns have been damaged by fallen trees.
