🎹 Correcting a controller curve kills it. Playing the take again doesn't.

Karim's workarounds when there is no budget to record: many different instruments, a bit of detuning, slowing the tempo down to actually play the fast lines, and two or three controllers plus a foot controller while playing. Playing is how he gets the emotion of that moment into the score.

🎼 Even a great mock-up misses what human players add.

Karim sees it as part of the job: we composers have to convince our producers that the added value created by human beings playing the music is significant enough to justify the extra cost.
