Most company drone pilots aren't dedicated pilots - they're part-time pilots.
So when they fly, the process needs to be simple, quick & accurate...
Which is why we built our latest and much anticipated release:

๐Ÿ†• Smart Missions: Default Workflows ๐ŸŽ‰

Previously, pilots had to have the technical know-how to fill in each field of a plan accurately.

Now, mission planning can be automatically completed depending on the pilot's workgroup or mission type.

This will auto-configure:

- The mission workflows, authority and necessary forms.
- The required max height.
- And all the necessary approval steps.

This is another automation tool we excited to build for our busy pilots and CRPs!

If you'd like to see this in action, send us a message or head to our website to book a demo!

The need for automation in drone program management is paramount!
There's too much to do, and almost no time to do it - which is big compliance risk โš ๏ธ
This is why we continue build automation tools for our busy CRPs, like our latest release:

๐Ÿ†• Improved Automatic Mission Creation ๐ŸŽ‰

We've made generating missions from flight logs even more flexible.

You can now choose how flight logs get turned into mission. You can either:

- Suggest missions,
- Automatically assign to missions, or
- Generate complete missions from flight logs based on the collection source the flight log comes from.

When combined with the pilot managed flight log sync, you can have missions generated and assigned to the correct pilot by giving each pilot their own DJI Cloud Sync - completely automated!

We find the 2 most important things for a drone program are:
1. A Chief Pilot's oversight and supervision of their operations, and
2. Simple, fast, yet compliant fights for busy pilots.

So in our latest release, we've been working hard to nail these 2 things:

๐Ÿ†• Pilot Managed Flight Log Sync ๐ŸŽ‰

When managing a large number of pilots, there can be a lot of administration to keep the flight log syncing up-to-date.

If using the Field App is not an option, then the next best thing is to delegate the job of updating sync passwords down to the pilot. Our latest release enables this!

๐Ÿ†• Improved Automatic Mission Creation ๐ŸŽ‰

We've made generating missions from flight logs even more flexible. You can now choose how flight logs get turned into mission. You can either:

With new FAA LAANC approval, U.S. pilots can now use FlyFreely authority sharing and automation tools to make operating under waivers easy.

Capabilities include the ability to configure authorised UAS and Pilots on a per wavier basis with workflows that are tailored to the waivers requirements.

Additionally an approval step can be introduced to give the waiver holder the ability to approve, modify or reject proposed operations.

This feature offers full confidence in operations management, particularly for businesses with complex, multi-jurisdictional needs.

Through FlyFreely, waivers (along with the associated pilot qualifications, UAS requirements, forms, checklists, and maintenance schedules) can be shared between organizations via automated workflows for all staff.

We are excited to announce that we have officially entered the United States with FAA approval as a UAS Service Supplier (USS) for the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) services.

This marks a significant milestone in FlyFreelyโ€™s mission to support drone pilots around the globe with software tools to simplify the management of drone operations, compliance and fleet.

Apart from accessing LAANC authorisations US based organisations will be able to access FlyFreely extensive range of capabilities to support both simple and complex operations in one platform.

For example Part 107 waiver holders will be able to manage authorised UAS and Pilots on a per wavier basis with workflows that are tailored to the waivers requirements including an approval step. FlyFreely even includes the capability to enable waiver sharing between organisations.

US based drone program managers will be able to leverage the platform's full suite of automation tools to manage pilot currency, monitor conformance, maintenance schedules plus much more.

In Ex-CAT - who is liable as the operator?

There has always been a โ€˜grey areaโ€™ when it comes to deciding to operate under the Excluded Category (Ex-Cat) rules or in the Included Category (ReOC) or both.

The rationale for using Ex-Cat has typically been โ€œless compliance, means less paperwork, which means more efficient operationsโ€.

But is this actually true?

This clip comes from our recently webinar interview with Drone Lawyer, Tom Pils, where we were lucky enough for him to unpack what it actually means to operate in Ex-Cat from a regulatory and civil liability perspective.

Can the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) be from outside the organisation (i.e. outsourced)?
Well...

For context, the CRP is a key individual responsible for the safety of an organisation's drone operations.

While the regulations specify the responsibilities and qualifications of a CRP, they do not explicitly state that the CRP must be an employee of the ReOC holder.

Therefore, it IS possible to have an outsourced CRP, provided they meet CASA's requirements and can fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

Some factors that would go into determining if the individual can meet their obligations would be the number of organisations they hold the role of Chief Remote Pilot with and the volume of Remote Pilots under their control. For example if they were overseeing 10 ReOC's with 200+ pilots in total it would be unlikely they would be able to fulfil their duties for all organisations simultaneously.

- Allowing only qualified pilots to access specific missions (ReOC, EVLOS, Nights, etc).
- Prefilling most of the forms and steps for simpler, repeatable missions.
- Auto-rules checker alerts to make sure each mission meets the conditions.
- Auto-logging of flight activity for maintenance hours.
- Auto-sync flight logs - to catch all data and make sure nothing is missed.

Keith Thomas & The EPE team do incredible work providing solutions and support to Defence Forces, Law Enforcement, and other government agencies. So when we received this feedback from Keith's recent CRP assessment using FlyFreely - we were excited to share:

"I recently completed my CRP assessment with CASA, and the documentation generated by the FlyFreely platform played a significant role in streamlining the process.

The detailed and professional reports provided by FlyFreely meant my interview time was greatly reduced, and the feedback from the assessor was overwhelmingly positive.

I highly recommend FlyFreely for anyone looking to simplify and enhance their compliance journey."

We look forward to seeing and supporting all of EPE's success in 2025!

Chief Remote Pilots (CRPs) are always on the move - so why not manage everything in our field app!

CRPs are responsible for their drone program, so they need to be across their team's missions.

The trouble is, CRP are busy people, they are always on the move and even flying missions themselves.

This is why we have developed the most comprehensive field app on the market - allowing CRPs to:

- Review Missions (and all forms submitted)
- Check Airspace (with auto-rules checker)
- Perform automated airspace flight authorisations

All from the palm of your hand.
