The worlds largest Spanish speaking country is Mexico, surpassing Spain and Colombia in population. The country has over 130 million residents across 32 federal entities and 15 urban areas within over 1 million residents.

GapMaps has partnered with AGS to map every resident down to a micro area level, allowing retailers and property owners to understand age and income profiles across any store catchment. In addition, GapMaps has profiled workers and visitors within local areas to further understand localised drivers of store performance.

As part of the 2026 Mexico launch, GapMaps has also introduced its global Retail Precincts product to Mexico. This provides a listing of every major retail mall and high street within the country, allowing clients to assess:
✅ The number and type of retailers present.
✅ A listing of all major brands within the precinct.
✅ Intelligence on how busy the precinct is by time of day and day of week.
✅ Who is shopping at the precinct by their home location (e.g. is the precinct reliant on tourists or more local visitors?).
✅ What parts of the retail precinct have the most footfall activity.
✅ How many people live and work within the local area.

Working with key retailers globally, GapMaps has designed and tested these metrics to provide the best lead indicators of store performance across a number of sectors including Food & Beverage, Fitness, Apparel, Grocery, Health, Education and other services.

*based on GapMaps city definitions based on contiguous urban areas.
