BC and Alberta clocks won't fall back on November 1. Check your calendar now.
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, British Columbia and Alberta stop changing their clocks. BC stays on UTC-7 and Alberta on UTC-6, year-round. The clock takes care of itself. Your calendar won't: any meeting from November 1 on can show up an hour early or an hour late until everything catches up.
Let your computer restart. Microsoft released the Windows update with the new time zones this week, and it's rolling out to the computers we manage now.
Then take ten minutes to:
🔎 Check your time zone in Settings, then Time & language, then Date & time. It should say (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) or (UTC-06:00) Mountain Time (Alberta).
🗓️ Set Outlook's calendar to the same zone. In new Outlook: Settings, Calendar, View. In classic Outlook: File, Options, Calendar.
👉 Update meetings you organize after November 1, especially recurring ones: open the meeting (Edit series), change its time zone, and send the update. This wipes any weeks you moved or cancelled, so note those first.
❓ Ask the organizer to fix any meeting you didn't create. If the organizer has left, or a meeting still looks wrong, cancel it and send a new invitation.
🏢 Working with people elsewhere? This winter, BC is 2 hours behind Toronto, not 3, and an hour ahead of Seattle. Alberta matches Saskatchewan.
