Data provided by software provider Retail Insight has shown that 82% of brick and mortar shoppers agree that they have experienced items being out of stock when shopping. Online shoppers have also seen a 6% rise in out of stock items across web stores.

Retail Insight CEO, Paul Boyle, highlighted the consequential loss of loyalty saying:
“Regardless of the causes – of which there are many and, rather unjustly, a great number remain outside a retailer’s direct control – poor product availability doesn’t just impact customer experience at the shelf edge. It can cost retailers lost sales and, even more detrimental, long-term loyalty.”
