Vi ønsker Øystein Brokke velkommen til Team Skygard!

Øystein har gått inn i rollen som Cyber Security Manager hos oss - og vi er veldig glade for å ha ham om bord. Han kommer med solid erfaring fra BDO, hvor han var Senior Manager innenfor IT-risiko og digital sikkerhet, og tidligere som informasjonssikkerhetsleder i Kripos.

I sin nye rolle vil han sørge for at Skygard er godt rustet mot digitale trusler og ha full kontroll på risikoen i det digitale landskapet. Velkommen til oss, Øystein!

Denne uken deltok vi på folkemøte i Eidfjord sammen med Eviny, hvor vi presenterte planene for et nytt datasenter i Simadal.

Det var flott å møte engasjerte innbyggere som stilte gode og viktige spørsmål. Åpen dialog med lokalsamfunnet er avgjørende for oss – og det er nettopp slik vi ønsker å jobbe.

Energiselskapet Eviny og partnaren Skygard utforskar moglegheita for å etablera Eidfjord datasenter i Simadal. Aktørane seier dei er i ein svært tidleg fase, men ynskjer ein open dialog med lokalsamfunnet frå start. Ein invitasjon til eit ope folkemøte om planane lokka til seg rundt 20 personar...

🌍 The Nordics are showing Europe how data centres can be part of the energy solution - not just part of the problem.

Our CTO, Atle Soma, will be on the panel "The Nordic Approach: Why Energy-Smart Data Centers Are Becoming Europe's Best Neighbours" at the Innovation Stage in Cannes on 3 June. The discussion covers the real-world models already working across the region - sector coupling, smart grids, district heating, off-grid solutions - and what the rest of Europe can realistically replicate.

At Skygard, energy-smart infrastructure is inseparable from our commitment to security, data sovereignty, and the capacity to handle the growing demands of AI workloads. Responsible, future-ready infrastructure has to be all of these things at once. If you are attending the event - we would love to connect!

Across the Nordics, data centers are increasingly being seen and incorporated as part of broader energy systems, rather than as isolated power consumers. While this approach is not yet standard, the region is becoming a testing ground for new models of integration.

Today, our CEO, Elise Lindeberg, joined a panel at Connect DC in Oslo on grid capacity and grid connection - one of the most pressing challenges facing our industry right now.

The data center sector is growing fast, and grid constraints are a real bottleneck. As an industry, we can't wait for solutions to come to us - we need to actively shape them.

En viktig kronikk fra NSM-direktør Arne Christian Haugstøyl i Dagens Næringsliv. Han argumenterer for at Norge trenger en nasjonal skytjeneste for å sikre digital suverenitet - og setter ord på en utvikling mange i bransjen har fulgt lenge: at dette handler om mer enn teknologi. Det handler om juridisk og politisk kontroll over egne data og systemer.

We're pleased to announce a new partnership with Eviny to explore data centre development in Western Norway.

Vestland offers strong fundamentals for data centre infrastructure - renewable energy, solid regional expertise, and a commitment to sustainable industrial development. Together, we'll be assessing potential sites and commercial opportunities in the region, including a possible development in Simadalen in Eidfjord municipality.

We look forward to exploring what's possible - in close dialogue with local communities and partners.
