This morning a new client asked me; "I just received an email telling me that i wasn't verified on Google. I thought I was!"

This is a classic scam and we were able to send a screenshot proving that she was in fact, verified on Google.

Scammers keep doing this though because folks must be giving them money.

The other thing that you’ll see is that these scammers will try to tell you your company is “non-listed". What they do is, out of 1000 citations that your business could be listed, they pick out 12 and say “ oh look, you’re not on 60% of these, we can help you.”

They are playing to the lack of understanding of how citations and SEO really work. Once your business starts to be “seen” online, you’ll get more and more of these. Eventually, once the scam companies have tried getting you to bite, they’ll die down a bit.
