Logic Group is busy trying out hardware and adjusting our Logic Trace software. Here is a preview of using Logic Trace with a smaller tracing tablet. 🐢

Do you need accurate DXF files for a CNC laser cutting machine?

Logic Trace System's 16 button cursor can be set to various commands to aid while tracing. Using the buttons instead of going between tracing device and computer saves time in creating great vector files from parts and patterns. These vector files in DXF, SVG, or PDF format can then be loaded into Apparel, CAD, Graphic design, or CNC software.

There's nothing like watching your CNC plasma table bring a design to life—precision cuts through steel and sheet metal, transforming raw material into finished parts or custom metal art. But creating the vector file that guides your plasma torch? That's often the frustrating part. With Logic Trace System, I digitized a paper pattern directly into a clean DXF file using the digitizing board and pen stylus. The software captures lines, arcs, and circles with precision—no manual CAD tracing required. The resulting DXF is ready to load into your plasma table software, CAM program, CAD application, or nesting software for immediate cutting. From paper template or actual part to cut-ready file in minutes.

Creating DXF files from parts and patterns
allows new CNC cuts for new products, replacement parts, and building libraries of often needed templates. Logic Trace System offers a quick and accurate way to create vector files from parts and patterns.

CNC machine cuts all start with a DXF, PDF, or SVG file. When you have a pattern or object and need to create a cut file use logic trace system for a fast and accurate file ready to import into CAD, CNC or apparel software.

Great laser cutting starts with a great vector file. But often there is no digital file for a part or pattern. Logic Trace offers a tool to create DXF, SVG, or PDF files quickly and accurately. Place the part or pattern on the tracing board, trace with the 16 button cursor or pen stylus and save the vector file. The file is ready to load into CNC or CAD software.

How I create a CNC DXF file for a pattern (or part) with an irregular shape. With no measuring! I place the pattern (or part) on the tracing board and make a plan by marking the straight lines, arcs, curves, and turn points. I also note the circles. Next, I use the pen stylus (or crosshair cursor) to trace the pattern using the tracing features of lines, arcs, curves, and turn points. All along the trace the pen and tracing board are collecting (x,y) data points that will be processed into an accurate DXF file. Circles defined by 3 points and other inside shapes are traced. The last step is saving the trace and creating a vector file in DXF, SVG, or PDF format. I use Logic Trace System which runs on Windows or Mac Pro Computers.
