Innovation requires the ability to move forward - not work around technology that’s holding you back.

When legacy systems make it harder to adopt new tools, launch new solutions, or adapt to changing business needs, the impact goes well beyond IT.

Your technology should create opportunities for your business, not put limits on what’s possible.

The most interesting AI question we’ve heard lately wasn’t about which tool to use. It was: “Can I outsource my entire AI department to you?”

That question points to a bigger shift in how organizations are approaching AI. It is becoming more than another software tool - AI is becoming a business function that touches data, security, permissions, applications and workflows.

The challenge isn’t just adopting AI quickly. It’s doing so with the right guardrails in place. As AI becomes more embedded in how organizations operate, it may be time to think about it differently - not just as a tool, but as a function you intentionally manage.

And that shift could change how organizations approach AI altogether.

AI can create incredible opportunities for organizations - but the value isn’t in simply adding more AI tools.

It’s in knowing what you want AI to accomplish, understanding the information it needs to do it, and making sure that foundation is secure.

That’s where the right strategy matters. Before moving full speed ahead with AI, organizations need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture: their data, their goals, and the safeguards that need to be in place.

If you’re exploring what AI could look like for your organization, GI can help you turn the possibilities into a practical, secure strategy.

Security isn’t one-size-fits-all.

The right security strategy starts with understanding your risks, priorities, and the outcomes you need to achieve - then putting the right technology and expertise behind them.

At General Informatics, we build security around outcomes to help organizations strengthen protection, reduce risk, and build a more resilient business.

Because security isn’t about having the most tools. It’s about having the right strategy behind them.

General Informatics is headed to Biloxi this week for the MGMA Southern Summer Conference!

We’re looking forward to spending a few days with healthcare leaders, learning more about what’s happening in their organizations, and hearing what challenges they’re facing - from cybersecurity and compliance to keeping their technology reliable and supporting their teams.

Our team will be at Booth #12, and we’d love for you to stop by. Tell us what’s on your IT and cybersecurity priority list, ask us a question, or just come introduce yourself. We’re always interested in learning more about what healthcare organizations are navigating and sharing what we’re seeing across the industry.

Let us know in the comments if we will see you there!

At XChange 2026, General Informatics' President & CEO, Don Monistere, shared a challenge we’re seeing firsthand: organizations can identify their vulnerabilities, but still struggle to find the time, budget, and resources to actually address them.

That gap between knowing what needs to be fixed and having the capacity to fix it is becoming one of the biggest challenges facing IT teams.

As Don put it, the answer isn’t simply more findings - it’s finding better ways to prioritize the work and make limited resources go further.

CRN captured the conversation in its latest article. Read the full story today 👉💻

The major struggle for MSPs in 2026 is less about how to address security risks with technology and more about how to prioritize where to focus the efforts of limited staff on addressing cyber risk, according to Cavelo Channel Chief Larry Meador.

What would happen if your most critical systems went offline tomorrow?

For 57% of organizations, their most recent major outage cost more than $100,000.

A strong disaster recovery strategy helps you answer the important questions before you're in the middle of an outage.

What needs to come back first?
How much downtime can you tolerate?
How quickly do you need to recover?

We break down what it takes to build a recovery strategy around the risks that matter most to your business 👉

Learn how a disaster recovery strategy can minimize downtime, protect critical systems, and help your business recover quickly when unexpected disruptions occur.

AI is incredibly good at finding ways to be helpful. Sometimes, a little too helpful.

In this video, Don shares a real example of an AI agent that decided to take initiative it was never asked to take. It worked exactly as it was designed to: it tried to help. The problem? It crossed a line no one asked it to cross.

That’s why the human in the loop matters.

As AI becomes more autonomous, the question isn’t just “What can we get AI to do?” It’s also “What happens when it decides to do more?”

AI needs autonomy. It also needs boundaries, oversight, and guardrails.

The best cybersecurity defenses aren't always the most advanced tools.

Sometimes, they're the simple decisions made before an incident ever happens.

Pause.
Ask questions.
Verify.

Those small actions can make a major difference when it comes to stopping cyber threats before they escalate.

Many organizations ask, "How can we prevent a cyberattack?"

It's an important question, but it isn't the only one worth asking.

How quickly could you identify suspicious activity? Who would lead the response? How long would recovery take? Would your team know what to do in the first hour?

Our latest blog explores why modern cybersecurity is about more than prevention and why preparedness is becoming a defining part of a strong security strategy 👉

Cybersecurity is evolving beyond prevention. Learn how incident response, identity security, and resilience help organizations prepare for modern threats.
