One of the biggest challenges during a cybersecurity event isn’t always the attack itself. It’s the confusion that follows.

Unclear ownership. Delayed communication. Teams trying to make critical decisions under pressure.

That’s why mature cybersecurity strategies aren’t built solely around prevention. They’re built around response, continuity, and recovery too.

Because how an organization handles the first few hours of an incident can shape everything that follows.

One thing that often gets overlooked in cybersecurity is that attackers don’t need to break through the front door if someone unknowingly opens it for them.

All it takes is one click on a seemingly normal-looking email.

And for municipalities, the stakes are especially high. Local governments manage critical infrastructure, emergency services, utilities, sensitive citizen data, and public trust… often with limited resources and aging systems. Attackers know that.

The focus can’t just be on prevention anymore. It has to be on response and resilience when something inevitably gets through.

Here’s what leaders should be prioritizing moving forward 👉

Malicious campaigns are putting public services and critical data at risk. Uncover the vulnerabilities cybercriminals exploit and tactics to stay protected.

Next week, we’re headed to Orange Beach for the Alabama City County Management Association Summer Conference!

ACCMA brings together leaders who are focused on strengthening the communities they serve - and we’re excited to be part of those conversations again this year. From cybersecurity and infrastructure to long-term IT strategy, we’re looking forward to connecting with city and county leaders across Alabama and sharing how technology can help support smarter, more resilient operations.

If you’ll be attending, let us know in the comments and make sure to stop by BOOTH #16!

Cybersecurity conversations usually focus on the defenses organizations have in place.

But security gaps rarely exist in isolation.

One overlooked permission.
One exposed system.
One trusted user account.

That’s what makes pe*******on testing so valuable. It forces organizations to see their environment from the perspective that matters most: someone actively trying to exploit it.

Discover why pen testing is becoming a critical part of understanding real-world cyber risk 👉 https://itstrategy.tech/the-role-of-pen-testing/

Pen testing takes the mindset of a hacker & simulates cyberattacks, first identifying then resolving network vulnerabilities before real exploitation can occur.

The way insurers evaluate risk has changed faster than many organizations realize.

A lot of businesses technically have the “right” tools in place. MFA exists. Policies exist. Monitoring exists. But insurers are now looking beyond whether controls simply exist on paper. They’re paying closer attention to enforcement, visibility, identity, access, and how security is actually being managed behind the scenes.

Our latest blog breaks down why cyber insurance is evolving and what’s driving the shift 👉 https://itstrategy.tech/threat-landscape-and-cyber-insurance/

Cyber insurance is no longer just a safety net. Insurers are evaluating how well organizations manage identity, access, and cyber risk before attacks happen.

Nothing better than a day spent on the course supporting a great cause. ⛳️

We joined the Northshore Food Bank for their recent golf tournament, and it was one of those days that really highlights what makes this community special. Seeing so many people come out to support their neighbors and rally around such an important mission is always something we’re proud to be part of.

And of course, getting to connect with everyone who stopped by the GI tent! We always enjoy the chance to connect and catch up with familiar (and new) faces.

We had the pleasure of supporting our client, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank’s recent golf tournament, and it was incredible to see so many people show up and support their mission.

Events like this are always a great reminder of how strong our community is when we come together. We're grateful to be part of it and to support the incredible work the Food Bank does every day — making a real impact in the fight against hunger across our community. 💚

Appreciate everyone who stopped by the GI tent to say hello! It’s always our favorite part of the day getting to connect with you all.

You might be wondering why we keep talking about identity security. It’s because statistics like this continue to shape where the real risk is.

Most breaches today aren’t starting with complex attacks. They’re starting with something simple: exposed credentials.

And once identity is compromised, attackers don’t need to break in. They’re already authenticated.

That reality is forcing a shift in how security is defined. It’s no longer just about keeping threats out. It’s about verifying trust continuously across every access point.

04/29/2026

Security used to only be about keeping people out. Now it’s also about knowing who’s getting in.

Most organizations built their strategy around the perimeter. But work isn’t tied to a single location anymore. Access happens from everywhere. And that changes the risk model entirely.

So, the question shifts:
Not “Is our network secure?”
But “Do we trust what’s happening inside it?”

When access is tied to identity, every login and permission matters.

AI is often discussed in terms of speed - faster ex*****on, higher output, and more efficiency. But that is not where the real shift is happening.

In our latest blog, General Informatics’ CEO & President, Don Monistere, explores what is emerging on the other side of adoption: the post-AI worker and how it is changing the nature of work itself.

As these tools become more integrated into daily operations, outcomes depend less on the technology and more on the environment it operates within. Clarity of ownership, quality of inputs, and system alignment are becoming the real drivers of value.

It is a shift that goes beyond tools and into how work is defined and carried forward. Check out the full piece now👉

AI is changing how it’s defined. As ex*****on gets easier, value shifts to clarity, judgment, and the ability to shape work in uncertain environments.
