🚨 The Department of War recently announced a 60-day pause on CMMC Phase II which suspends 3rd-party certification requirements, but it does not change long-standing CUI safeguarding obligations under DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST 800-171, nor self-attestation of compliance with those obligations.

This pause does not eliminate accountability. In fact, scrutiny of self-attestations and the officials who sign them may increase, elevating potential False Claims Act (FCA) risk for organizations that cannot demonstrate their compliance assertions.
