🚀 Making Impact Visible: EMPath’s 2026 Annual Report 🚀

CviaD is proud to partner with Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath), an organization dedicated to helping individuals and families move out of poverty and toward lasting economic independence.

Through direct services, advocacy, research, and a global learning network, EMPath is advancing economic mobility in communities around the world.

We’re excited to bring strategic storytelling, creative direction, and design together for EMPath’s 2026 Annual Report—creating a publication that celebrates progress, demonstrates impact, and reinforces the organization’s leadership in the economic mobility field.

It’s the kind of work we value deeply: helping mission-driven organizations tell the stories that move their work—and their mission—forward.

We’re proud to help EMPath turn a year of progress into a story that builds momentum for its mission.

🚀 Back-to-School Means Advancing Equity in Higher Ed 🚀

As a new academic year begins, it’s a timely moment to think about how we can create higher education systems that are more flexible, accessible, and equitable for every learner.

At CviaD, we’re proud to have partnered with Jobs for the Future (JFF) and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) to help make that vision a reality. Together, we developed the Direct Assessment Competency-Based Education (CBE) Implementation Blueprint, a 166-page, fully WCAG 2.2 AA accessible guide designed to help California community colleges launch equity-centered CBE programs, advance Vision 2030, and expand opportunity.

Why this matters now:
📌 Provides a step-by-step roadmap for colleges exploring direct assessment CBE.
📌 Centers equity, flexibility, and workforce alignment.
📌 Makes practical tools and resources accessible to the people who need them.
📌 Helps institutions rethink how students learn, progress, and succeed.

This project reflects what’s possible when organizations come together to build more learner-centered systems and create practical tools for putting that vision into action.

As the new semester gets underway, we believe the future of higher education is student-centered, accessible, and equity-driven. 👉 cviad.com

🌟 CREATIVE QUERY: WEBSITE DESIGN 🌟

Q: How can our website meet the needs of both our donors and the communities we serve?

A: Your website isn't one audience wearing two hats. It's two journeys sharing one home.

Donors come looking for trust and impact—proof their investment matters. Communities come looking for access and belonging—proof the mission is for them. Great web design doesn't force a compromise between the two; it designs clear paths for each.

📌 Map the journeys separately. Donors and community members enter with different goals—design navigation that gets each to what they need fast.
📌 Lead with clarity, not clutter. A clean hierarchy helps a donor find "give" and a community member find "get help" without competing for the same space.
📌 Design for accessibility first. Screen readers, plain language, and mobile-friendly layouts ensure the site works for the people the mission actually serves.
📌 Let trust signals do their job. Impact stories, transparency, and testimonials build donor confidence without alienating the communities those stories represent.
📌 Test with real users from both groups. Donors and community members will surface different friction points—usability testing should include both.

The goal isn't a website that speaks to everyone the same way. It's one that speaks to everyone the right way.

At CviaD, we design websites that serve donors and communities as equally important audiences—not competing priorities. 👉 cviad.com

🚀 Good Websites Aren't Just Built for Launch Day—They're Built to Remain Useful Years Later. 🚀

As Massachusetts begins navigating its FY2027 budget, the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation's website continues to help policymakers, researchers, journalists, and residents explore trusted fiscal information.

We're proud to have designed a platform that continues to make complex public policy easier to navigate.

At CviaD, we believe thoughtful digital design can turn complex information into something people can actually find, understand, and use.

Our work focused on creating a digital experience that makes it easier to:

📌 Find trusted research and economic analysis
📌 Explore budget and fiscal information
📌 Navigate decades of Massachusetts policy insights
📌 Understand the data behind the headlines

When billions of public dollars are at stake, access to credible information isn't just valuable—it's essential.

We're proud to support the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation's mission by creating a digital resource that continues to make trusted fiscal research more accessible years after its launch.

🎯 Organizations Evolve. Programs Expand. Priorities Shift. Community Needs Evolve. 🎯

Your messaging shouldn't reflect where you've been—it should communicate who you are today and where you're headed.

Ask yourself:

📌 Does our messaging accurately reflect the programs and services we offer today?
📌 Can a first-time visitor quickly understand who we serve and the impact we create?
📌 Are we highlighting the programs and services driving the greatest impact today?
📌 Are we using consistent language to communicate our mission and outcomes?

When your messaging doesn't keep pace with your organization, supporters, donors, and partners may leave with an outdated understanding of your impact.

Let's make sure your messaging reflects the impact you're creating today—and the future you're building. 👉 https://cviad.com

🚀 What Happens When Code Becomes Typography? 🚀

The best typography makes you stop, look closer, and wonder how it came to be.

GridType Vol.—1: Type & Tools by Slanted Publishers explores exactly that. The publication brings together ten typefaces created through grids, code, parameters, and a healthy dose of curiosity, built with the experimental type tool GridType.

From geometric systems and pixels to segmented displays and historical references like the Plaque Découpée Universelle, GridType connects the history of constructed lettering with contemporary digital experimentation. What begins as a grid becomes a playground for unexpected forms, variations, and typographic discoveries.

This is what makes typography so endlessly compelling for us at CviaD. Type is never just what we read. It is structure, technology, culture, experimentation, and visual expression all at once.

It's a wonderful reminder that sometimes, the most interesting letters are the ones you didn't know you were looking for. https://www.designboom.com/design/gridtype-vol-1-digital-tools-new-typographic-forms-slanted-publishers/

🚀 Numbers Can Tell You What Happened. The Right Story Tells Why It Matters. 🚀

That's what made Ellis Early Learning's annual report such a meaningful project for us.

Every day, Ellis is dedicated to creating impact through early education, helping children build strong foundations, supporting families, and opening doors to brighter futures.

Our role was to make that value visible.

We brought together the data, stories, milestones, and moments that captured Ellis's year, shaping them into a report that reflects not only what they accomplished, but the people and purpose behind it.

Because when an organization is doing work that matters, it should connect people to the outcome, celebrate the progress, and invite them to see what can happen when a community invests in its children.

Thank you to the entire Ellis Early Learning team, for trusting us to help tell your story. We're proud of what we created together, and even prouder to help shine a light on the extraordinary work you do every day.

🌟 CREATIVE QUERY: AI 🌟

Q: How can our nonprofit use AI to advance our mission, not just automate tasks?

AI can do more than save your team time. It can help your nonprofit expand its reach, better understand the communities you serve, personalize programs and services, and make more informed decisions, ultimately creating greater impact in pursuit of your mission.

But first, a few tips:
📌 Start with your mission, not the technology. Begin by asking, "What's standing in the way of achieving our mission?" Let your biggest challenges guide where AI can be used best.
📌 Use AI to create more capacity for people. Automate repetitive tasks like drafting, transcription, research, and data cleanup so your team can spend more time on relationships, advocacy, creativity, and community building.
📌 Keep people at the center. AI can assist with decisions and ideas, but the people who understand your community should remain involved, especially when outputs affect the people you serve.
📌 Watch for bias and blind spots. AI reflects the data it learns from. If that data is incomplete or biased, the results can be too. Make sure the voices, experiences, and needs of your community are represented.

The goal isn't to use more AI. It's to leverage AI strategically to create more capacity for the work that matters most.

Let's keep your mission moving in the right direction. 👉 https://cviad.com
