Real hardware. Real memories. 💾

Before Windows.

Before the Internet.

Before downloads, updates, and app stores.

Just a floppy disk, a blinking cursor, and hoping the game would actually load.

What computer started it all for you?

👇 Commodore, Atari, Apple, Tandy, Amiga, IBM, TRS-80... let's hear it.

Before save files…
there was THIS. 🕹️

Be honest… could you still enter it from memory today? 👇

I played Sonic on the Sega Genesis for years… and somehow missed this completely.

There’s a hidden level select code right on the title screen, and I had no idea it was even there back in the day.

Where was this when we were kids?

Did you actually know this one… or is this your first time seeing it?

Running from Mr. Hot Dog on real Intellivision hardware 🕹️📺

That plastic slide sound hits before your brain even registers what game it is.

Yellow label. Gold directional disc. Chef Peter Pepper running from a hot dog with feelings.

I still think the Intellivision version of BurgerTime was one of the best home arcade ports of the early 80s.

And somehow that weird gold disc controller made this game feel PERFECT.

Did you love that controller… or did it destroy your thumb after 20 minutes? 👇

Real hardware. Real memories. 🎮📺

The weight of that cartridge, the snap of the Controller Pak, and an intro that meant the weekend had officially started.

Running original 1997 hardware on a vintage Sony Trinitron CRT.

What was the house rule at your place? 👇

He-Man - Master of the Universe 1983 on the Intellivision.

If you remember playing with Overlays on the Intellivision, you had a great Childhood!

Which system did you own, Intellivision or Atari, or both?

Hacky Sack is suddenly trending again in schools across the country…

Meanwhile, some of us were already pulling off “GOOD SICK!” tricks in California Games back in 1987. 👊🏻

Louie Louie.
The seagulls.
The SID chip.
The CRT glow.

Instant memories. BOOM.

That little green codec screen on a real PlayStation 1 hits different on a Sony CRT in a dark room.

I somehow never really played Metal Gear Solid back in the day, and after sitting down with it today… now I get it. The stealth, the tension, the codec calls, the atmosphere… mercy.

And hearing that codec ring through an old tube TV instantly felt like 1998 again.

Did you answer every codec call, or did you just want to get back to sneaking around? 👊🏻

That PS1 startup sound gave you hope…

Then THIS screen showed up.

Did you flip yours upside down too?

Jumpman...1983!
A lot of people never seen the original box before!
How many level did you get past?

Subscribers picked this one for April… and I thought getting a 1997 PC game running would take maybe 20 minutes. 😅

Windows 98 said no.
Windows Me said no.
Next thing I know, I’m deep inside CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT trying to squeeze enough memory together just to launch Imperium Galactica on real hardware.

Somehow… this used to be normal. BOOM. 💾

One of the coolest parts of the Floppy Deep Dive community is that subscribers help decide what game gets featured next. This month’s pick turned into a full-blown retro PC battle.

What old PC game gave YOU the most trouble to get running?
