SOLIDWORKS Modeling Hack: Inverse Fillets Made Easy!

Standard fillets add rounded edges, but generating a concave cutout often leads to creating custom sketches. Here's how you can use the Swept Cut tool in three easy steps to create clean, inverse fillets instantly along any edge.

1. Select Swept Cut from the Features toolbar.
2. Choose Circular Profile instead of Sketch Profile.
3. Select the target edge and specify your desired diameter.

Metal additive manufacturing is changing what’s possible for cutting tool design.

Bright Laser Technologies - BLT’s integrated tool designs route coolant straight to the cutting edge, reduce weight to lower spindle inertia, and eliminate the scrap that comes with machining from bar stock.

In our recent blog, we explore current industry challenges, how BLT 3D printing enables high-performance tooling, and improves material utilization and production efficiency.

Is your SOLIDWORKS feature hidden… or suppressed?

🎃 Hiding Features: They vanish visually, but SOLIDWORKS is still quietly calculating them in the background, spooking your rebuild times.

👻 Suppressing Features: Completely turns off the calculations, freeing up processing power and speeding up performance.

Check out this quick clip to see how it works 👇

How do the mass properties in SOLIDWORKS sheet metal parts change when they are folded?

Physically, plastic deformation stretches the outer bend and thins the material. Mass stays the same, but mass distribution changes. But SOLIDWORKS handles bend geometry in a way that can give you an inaccurate mass for the folded state.

Read our blog to see how SOLIDWORKS calculates bend regions and why you should reference the flat pattern when accuracy matters:
