September is National Guide Dog Month, a time to recognize the incredible partnership between guide dogs and their handlers.

Guide dogs don't simply "lead the way." They work alongside their handlers, building trust and helping them navigate the world with greater confidence and independence.

Throughout the month, we're celebrating the dogs, the handlers, and the organizations that make these partnerships possible.

And, of course, we're always happy for an excuse to celebrate the truly remarkable four-legged partners who are such an important part of our community.

The past six years brought countless conversations, hard decisions, golf outings, and milestones that shaped who we are. What started as an introduction over a string of emails in 2019 grew into a partnership that built Ablr from the ground up. As John Samuel steps into his new role as Director of the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind and Mike Iannelli takes the lead as CEO, we're looking back at the friendship that made all of it possible. The mission continues because of the people who believe in it, and these two believed in it from day one.

Change can be uncomfortable, but it's also an opportunity to grow. As Ablr enters this next chapter, we're building on a strong foundation, expanding our programs, and continuing our mission to create more opportunities for people who are blind or have low vision.

Strong organizations are built around a shared mission, great people, and leaders who empower others to carry that mission forward. We're excited for Mike Iannelli as he steps into the role of CEO, Kim Casey as she becomes Chief Operating Officer, and the future of Ablr.

After many incredible years of leading Ablr, our co-founder and CEO, John Samuel, has accepted the role of Director of the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind. While this is a bittersweet moment for our team, we couldn't be more excited to see John continue creating opportunities for the blind community in this new role, and we know the mission we built together will continue to grow.

Losing your sight doesn't have to mean leaving your favorite sports behind. Small adaptations, accessible techniques, and the right support can help make many recreational activities more accessible.

July is Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the history, achievements, and experiences of the disability community while recognizing the work that continues to create a more inclusive world for everyone.

Sunday also marked the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA was a landmark piece of legislation that helped break down barriers to accessibility and affirmed that people with disabilities deserve equal access to opportunities, services, and public life.

More than three decades later, that work continues. Accessibility is not a finish line. It's an ongoing commitment to creating environments, technologies, and communities where everyone can participate and thrive.

At Ablr, we're proud to help move that work forward by removing digital barriers, changing mindsets, and creating pathways to employment for people with disabilities.

As Disability Pride Month continues, we're celebrating the progress that's been made, recognizing the advocates who made it possible, and remaining committed to building a future where accessibility is simply the standard.

This video features a woman standing at a touchscreen ordering kiosk inside a Taco Bell while she learns how to use its accessibility features.

As more restaurants introduce touchscreen ordering kiosks, it's critical that companies ensure they are fully accessible. Features like screen readers, Braille instructions, and headphone support can help people who are blind order independently. When these features are built into everyday technology, they create a more inclusive experience for everyone.
