𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑!!

Today is 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫! And we know attackers don't need to physically enter a treatment facility to threaten its operations. Unauthorized access to connected control systems can lead to disrupted treatment processes, disabled pumps, compromised monitoring, and interrupted water service.

We See It Daily!

Imagine hospitals without reliable water. Firefighters facing inadequate water pressure. Families turning on their faucets and getting nothing. Businesses and entire communities facing the consequences of a cyberattack they never saw coming.

As we recognize Imagine a Day Without Water, we're calling attention to an increasingly important responsibility: ensuring that cybersecurity protections extend all the way into the operational technology keeping our water systems running.

Because a day without water shouldn't become a reality because of one compromised password.

At today’s Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) Healthcare Cyber Defense Summit, healthcare leaders and cybersecurity professionals are coming together to address an increasingly critical responsibility: protecting hospital systems, safeguarding patient information, and ensuring continuity of care when cyberattacks threaten healthcare operations.

The urgency is real. A new 2026 Proofpoint–Ponemon Institute study found that 𝟕𝟒% 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞. Cybersecurity is no longer a conversation confined to protecting sensitive information. It is fundamental to patient safety, operational resilience, and the ability to deliver reliable healthcare.

We’re proud to join the Mississippi Hospital Association for this important event, with ATG CEO Shane Adams speaking during the 2:00 PM remarks. As one of today's sponsor, ATG is pleased to support the conversations, collaboration, and shared commitment to strengthening cybersecurity across Mississippi's healthcare community.

Applied Technology Group will be helping lead the cybersecurity tabletop portion of the event, giving participants the opportunity to work through a realistic incident and pressure-test how their teams would respond.

This is a strong opportunity for IT, cybersecurity, operations, leadership, and critical infrastructure professionals to move beyond awareness and into actual preparedness.

It is with great honor that we congratulate Greg Mallette and Shane Adams for receiving the Public/Private Partnership Award from the InfraGard National Awards Program during the 2026 InfraGard National Awards Program Ceremony in Chicago last week!

The InfraGard National Awards Program is a time-honored annual tradition that recognizes the talent and accomplishments of InfraGard members and partners. It is an opportunity to acknowledge individuals who are helping to advance the mission and achieve excellence within their programs and communities.

The Public/Private Partnership Award acknowledges an InfraGard member and a public-sector partner who forged a partnership to protect U.S. critical infrastructure.

This award recognizes the work Greg Mallette, of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure
Security Agency, and Shane Adams have done through the InfraGard Mississippi Members Alliance. Since 2024 they have taken that work to the Mississippi Rural Water Association, the Mississippi Municipal League, and the Mississippi Association of Supervisors. From June 2025 through January 2026 it became Cybersecurity Performance Goal Assessments for Critical Infrastructure Organizations serving about 379,312 people, most of them municipalities, counties, and water systems.

Congratulations on such an incredible accomplishment! The team looks forward to keeping your calendars fully packed with the upcoming assessments! Let’s finish 2026 out strong!!

September is National Preparedness Month! And Cybersecurity is ON REVIEW!

For the past two days, Shane Adams of Applied Technology Group has participated in CISA’s Cyber Storm X as a Mississippi-based cybersecurity expert for critical infrastructure. Cyber Storm is designed to put real-world cyber response, coordination, decision-making, communication, and recovery plans under pressure, because a plan that looks good on paper still has to work when an incident is moving fast.

One of the most valuable parts of any exercise is what happens when something DOESN’T work exactly as expected.

• Processes break down.
• Ownership/Responsibility is unclear.
• Vulnerability surfaces.
• Critical control missing.

Those discoveries are not failures. They are exactly why organizations exercise in the first place, because once a gap is identified, it can be corrected before a real attacks gets the opportunity to exploit it.

Cyberattack attempts continue to put water systems, utilities, municipalities, healthcare organizations, operational technology environments, and other essential services in the crosshairs. Many of these organizations are also operating with smaller teams, limited cybersecurity resources, aging technology, and environments that have changed significantly since their last formal review.
September is National Preparedness Month, and there could not be a better time to take a hard look at your own cybersecurity readiness. CISA’s Cybersecurity Performance Goals provide critical infrastructure organizations with a practical baseline for identifying high-impact cybersecurity protections, measuring where they stand, and determining where improvements should be prioritized.
