Introducing AI Your Way on Sitefinity.

There are two AI stories on Sitefinity, and you don't have to pick.

The first is intelligence built into the CMS itself, working in the editor while your content gets created. The second is Sitefinity showing up inside the AI assistant your team already sits in all day. Same platform, same permissions, same approvals.

Eric Spencer wrote the launch piece: how the pieces stack into one adoption path, why every stage pays for itself, and where to actually start.

Most Sitefinity teams don't need an AI product comparison, they need a path. How native Sitefinity AI and assistant-side skills stack into one adoption journey.

Every technology firm in West Michigan says it does AI right now. The claim costs nothing to make, so it tells you nothing.

Eric Spencer wrote the piece we'd want to read about any AI partner we were evaluating. Where AI actually runs across four operational areas at Springthrough. The 20% drop in triage hours, plus the multi-vendor work underneath it. The Monday morning an MCP server tripped our own EDR. And the five rules we operate by after learning them the expensive way.

The test we use internally: AI is in operations when removing it would slow down real work clients are paying for. By that test, four things at Springthrough qualify.

What AI in business operations looks like at a 25-person consultancy: where it runs, what it broke, what it cost, and the rules we use to keep it safe.

A visitor lands on your site with a real question. They type it into your search box and get back nothing, or the wrong things. So they leave. Maybe they check a competitor.

That's the quiet failure mode of keyword search. It doesn't crash. It just under-delivers for your highest-intent visitors.

Kevin Reed on what changes when search understands the question instead of just matching the characters. Progress reports semantic search averages roughly 2x session duration and 3x engagement time on Sitefinity sites. Not bad for a search box upgrade.

You don't have to throw keyword search away either. Hybrid search (keyword for precision, semantic for meaning) is usually the right entry point.

Read it here:

Keyword-only search under-delivers for the highest-intent visitors. Semantic search closes the gap between what people ask and what you've written.

Every AI-in-the-CMS conversation eventually lands on the same question: can the built-in feature actually do the job, or do you need a custom build?

For Progress Sitefinity RAG, Eric Spencer has now put it against real client content. The honest answer is that it holds up more often than the market expects.

Where it earns its keep: grounded in content you already govern, hallucinations kept on a short leash, and it works on self-hosted 14.x+ (no forced move to Sitefinity Cloud).

Where a custom build still makes sense: when you need retrieval across many systems beyond the CMS, agentic behavior across steps, or fine-grained control over the model and ranking.

Read it here:

Does Progress Sitefinity's built-in RAG hold up on real content? Our take on where it beats a custom build for content-heavy sites, and how to evaluate it.

Two new pieces from our team this week worth a few minutes.

Zachary Will lays out the 12 questions to ask before you let anyone assess your IT. Question #1 is the most revealing.

Kevin Reed walks through the three ways to run Sitefinity, and why "fully managed" does not mean your marketers lose the visual editor.

Hiring a firm for an IT assessment? These 12 questions reveal whether you're getting real guidance, not a sales pitch dressed as an audit.

How much does your website's search bar actually matter?

More than most teams realize. About 43% of visitors skip the navigation entirely and go straight to search. They convert at 2 to 3 times the rate of visitors who don't. And 68% won't return after a bad search experience.

If you're running Sitefinity and weighing AI search, Eric Spencer just published a framework comparing the three platforms we see most often: ai12z, Progress Agentic RAG, and HawkSearch. We've built on all three, and there's no universal winner. The right answer depends on the role search plays on your site.

Read it here:

A framework for choosing AI search for Sitefinity: when ai12z, Progress Agentic RAG, or HawkSearch is the right fit for your content, governance, and budget.

The AI demo for any CMS goes the same way: generate a paragraph, summarize a page, suggest a headline. It looks great on a projector.

But content generation was never your team's bottleneck. Your editors can write. What eats their weeks is the operational work wrapped around the writing — finding what's broken, keeping translations in sync, updating the same phone number on forty pages.

After a year of running AI inside production Sitefinity sites, Eric Spencer shares what actually moves the needle, and what separates a deployment that sticks from a science project.

When your Sitefinity site slows down, who do you call first — your CMS partner or your IT vendor?

That moment of hesitation is the problem. When two different teams own different layers of the same system, performance suffers, deployments take longer, and finger-pointing fills the space where accountability should be.

Helen Hill makes the case for one partner across the whole stack — and what to look for if you're considering the switch.

Splitting Sitefinity managed services and IT infrastructure between two vendors costs you performance, deployment speed, and budget. Why consolidating with one partner pays off.

Most IT assessments end the same way: a binder nobody opens twice, a bill bigger than the estimate, and a leadership team still trying to figure out what to actually do with what they have.

Mike Williams shares the conversation that inspired how we built the Technology Blueprint — fixed scope, fixed fee, 3–4 weeks from kickoff to a peer-reviewed executive readout. Built for CFOs, CIOs, and boards that need a decision-grade picture, not a doctoral dissertation.
