Yesterday was National Black Cat Appreciation Day. Even though I’m a day late I wanted to show appreciation to our little void. Zack and I have had one of the hardest years of our lives. We have had 5 deaths between both our families and multiple other small setbacks in between.

The world has just felt heavy.

Just under a year ago I took one of the dogs to the vet for a minor issue. In the exam room they had a little black kitten in the cage doing everything he could to get my attention. We already had 2 cats and I had zero intention of getting another one. But there was just something about him and I fell in love with him immediately.

Then the vet tech told me he was special needs and needed a home. When he was a baby his mama and siblings contracted a nasty virus which caused the majority to the kittens to develop cerebellar hypoplasia also known as the wobbles. She ensured me the virus had resolved and there was no threat to the other animals. She also said he would overall be a “normal” cat with mild balance issues. Well they must of knew they had a sucker for the handicapped animals coming in.
I went in with one animal. Left with two.

Little did I know at the time that this little cat was meant to come into our lives. He immediately fit in with other dogs and cats. We also quickly noticed that “normal” cat was a relative term. He is healthy and doesn’t need any adaptations for his condition. But other than that there is nothing normal about this cat. And honestly I am so happy about that. He is absolutely all go and zero brains what so ever. He steals Everything. He is chaos. But behind his crazy he also the sweetest little man ever.

In a time that has been hard to find a whole lot of joy he has helped us find it in so many ways when we needed it the most. I truly think he was meant to come into our lives and we couldn’t imagine our lives without him now.

It’s been a week here in Michigan, Heat indexes in the 100s, the worst air quality in the world, and a Cyclosporiasis outbreak. The bottom picture is a picture I took of the Mackinac Bridge years ago (with a crappy IPhone camera btw). The top photo is from the Mackinac bridge authority showing almost zero visibility from wildfire smoke. All jokes aside, stay safe out there and prayers to Canada.

Small Business Spotlight!

Nothing says “homeownership” quite like a simple project turning into three unexpected ones.

What started as replacing our broken dryer somehow turned into discovering our washer hookups were so corroded the hoses wouldn’t even come off.

Thankfully, a friend pointed us to Mrs. Jenkins Plumbing. They got everything fixed up, and found a misrouted pipe we never knew existed. Now our water pressure is better than it’s ever been.

Fast. Honest. Friendly. Professional.
