Here's our latest substack on how to get AI going!

In my last post, I pointed out that your company’s “AI journey” has probably already started.

Common question: where do we start this “AI journey”?

How many tabs do you have open right now? Be honest.

Here's the risk most people don't think about: every tab that's logged into something — your bank, a client portal, email, practice management software — is a live, authenticated session sitting open. If one tab gets compromised by a malicious script or a bad extension, it doesn't just affect that tab. It can potentially reach every other logged-in session in that browser window.

The fix takes two minutes:

→ Close tabs for anything you're not actively using — especially logged-in sessions.
→ Use a separate browser (or browser profile) for sensitive work like banking or client portals.
→ Bookmark instead of leaving tabs open "just in case."

Small habit. Real reduction in exposure.

What's your tab count right now? Comment below — no judgment. 😅

A year ago, Nina Harris joined Matrix Computer Consulting as a technician. Yesterday, we celebrated her first year with the team.

The sweatshirt she's holding in this photo says it best: "Blood makes you related. Loyalty makes you family." That's the kind of team we've tried to build — and Nina's been a real part of that this past year.

Congratulations, Nina. Looking forward to what's next.

Quick gut check: how many AI tools has your business signed up for in the last two years — and are you still paying for all of them?

Here's the pattern we see constantly: a company buys seats in one AI platform, switches to a different one a few months later, and nobody cancels the first subscription. Multiply that by a few tool switches over time, and most businesses have no idea how many AI subscriptions are quietly still running.

That's real money leaving every month for tools nobody opens anymore.

The fix: a quick audit of every AI tool you've ever paid for, before your next renewal. It almost always pays for itself.

Quick question: do you know which AI tools your employees are already using at work?

If the honest answer is "no idea," this one's worth a minute.

Free versions of AI tools like ChatGPT aren't built with business data protections. When an employee pastes in a client email or internal document to save time, that data can be stored or used to train the model — completely outside your control.

Nobody hacked anything. It just walked out through a tool nobody approved.

The fix: a clear, structured AI use policy so your team knows what's approved and what isn't — before it becomes a problem.

New episode! 🎙️

A company turned on an AI assistant. First week, someone asked it what everyone on the team makes — and it answered, pulling straight from a spreadsheet that person had access to for six years without ever knowing it was there.

Nobody got hacked. Nothing broke. That's exactly the point.

Episode 5 walks through the three questions worth asking before you turn AI on at your business: what you already own, what it can see, and what you'd actually use it for.

Your staff are already using AI. The only question is whether it's happening on your terms, on your data, with your name on it.

Most firms find out the hard way — a client asks how they govern AI, and there's no answer. Or the license renewal comes in 40-60% higher than it should be because everyone got a seat "just in case."

Here's the four-phase program we run to fix that:
1. ASSESS (Weeks 1-3) — Licensing audit, data audit, needs audit. You get a ranked, costed shortlist of where AI actually returns hours — and a clear picture of your data risk.
2. GOVERN (Weeks 2-6) — An acceptable-use policy your staff will actually follow, technical guardrails, and shutting down the shadow AI tools already running unsanctioned.
3. ENABLE (Weeks 4-10) — License and configure AI inside the systems you already run. Pilot with one team first. Scale on evidence, not enthusiasm.
4. SUSTAIN (Week 6 onward) — Quarterly permissions re-scans, role-based training, and a documented answer when a client, insurer, or auditor asks how you control AI.
The phases overlap — your pilot team can go live in week 4 while governance work finishes elsewhere. The one rule that never bends: no one touches production data before the guardrails exist.

AI isn't a project you finish. Tools change monthly. People turn over. Permissions drift back within two quarters. Firms that treat it as "done" are usually out of compliance by month nine.

Start with a 45-minute scoping call. We'll confirm fit, walk the four phases against your environment, and give you real numbers.

New episode alert : Coming Soon🎙️

"AI replaces staff." "It's plug-and-play." "Set it and forget it."

None of that is true — and Episode 5 is all about closing the gap between what you'd expect from AI and what actually happens.

With Andy Harrover and Melissa Glittone.
