Many use the term, but very few can claim to live in their subject matter, know it, own it, and, in fact, to be indigenous to it. We are a Minneapolis Digital Marketing firm, assisting business clients worldwide with their digital products, problems, and processes. Paying homage to our founders United Houma Nation heritage, Nativ3 was founded with the mission of being leaders in digital strategy a

Our presence is not something that appeared later. It was there from the beginning, woven into the earliest history of this place.

We see it in the early history of New Orleans. We see it in Houma. We see it in Baton Rouge. Again and again, the records reminds us that our people were not standing on the outside of Louisiana’s story. We were part of the land, part of the movement, part of the identity of these places before many of them became what they are known as today.
Too often, Indigenous history is spoken about as if it belongs only to the distant past or only to isolated places.

New Orleans. Houma. Baton Rouge.

Our story is not separate from Louisiana’s story. It is part of its earliest foundation, its landscape, and its name.

Happy National Crawfish Day! 🦞 The crawfish was the emblem of our ancestors, and we proudly honor them by displaying the crawfish on our flag today.

Not invited, not welcomed, but forced to integrate.

A federal judge ordered the all-white high schools in Terrebonne Parish to open the 11th and 12th grades to Indian children because our parents fought back against being forced into segregated classes.

This isn’t ancient history. This is our parents’ era. Our grandparents’ era. And many of the people who lived through it are still alive today.

We didn’t survive by being quiet.
We survived by being active tribal citizens.
If you claim Houma blood, Houma family, Houma identity then this is your inheritance too.

Not just the pride, the responsibility.

Because culture and rights don't stay alive on their own. They stay alive when people show up.
-Learn the history.
-Be present.
-Ask questions.
-Talk to elders.

Thanks to all who fought this fight. If you or your family lived through this era, feel free to share your experience in the comments.
