Near Earth Autonomy

Near Earth Autonomy Creating a future where autonomous flight is safe and accessible.

04/14/2026

For contested logistics missions, long range and reliable autonomy are critical.

We just completed our first continuous 100+ nautical mile autonomous flight and landing zone evaluation with our RUC-60 optionally piloted Black Hawk helicopter. Autonomous flight over long distances is transformative when combined with a proven utility helicopter platform that can deliver 1,000's of pounds per mission.

Near Earth Autonomy has won a U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (Navair) contract to develop autonomous flight technology for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) operating in contested maritime environments.

The award is intended to improve the Marine Corps’ ability to conduct uncrewed resupply missions in areas where GPS and communications links may be degraded or unavailable. Pittsburgh-based Near Earth will deliver an aircraft-agnostic system enabling ship-to-shore, shore-to-ship, and ship-to-ship logistics in unprepared and hazardous environments without continuous connectivity.

Small UAS will operate in GPS-denied, communications-degraded environments

In defense logistics missions, safe and reliable landings are paramount. Our autonomy system, shown here onboard the AW139, evaluates landing zones, detects hazards, and guides the aircraft to a safe touchdown.

This work was done under the U.S. Marine Corps Aerial Logistics Connector program with our partners Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and Leonardo Company Helicopters.
