AWS has deprecated the aws-auth ConfigMap for Amazon EKS. Moving to EKS Access Entries gives teams an opportunity to revisit who has cluster access, what they can do, and whether those permissions are still needed. The two critical PHP vulnerabilities known as PHP2Shell, first disclosed Oct. 20, affect every PHP installation serving web requests. PHP is the scripting language behind a large number of websites and web applications, and also runs inside platforms like WordPress and cPanel. The flaws can allow attackers to run code remotely on a web server without logging in.

Patches are available for supported versions, and the time to apply them is now. The GuidePoint Research and Intelligence Team (GRIT) lays out which systems to secure first, how to reduce exposure when an update has to wait, and how to check for signs of earlier exploitation.
