Before you paste company data into AI, check where that information is going. 🔐

Using AI responsibly starts with your settings and what you choose to share.

✅ Check model training settings. In a personal ChatGPT account, go to Settings → Data Controls → turn OFF “Improve the model for everyone” before starting new conversations.

✅ Use the right business plan. ChatGPT Business and Enterprise exclude business data from model training by default. Depending on the platform and plan, organizations can also manage access, connected tools, and data retention.

✅ Remove sensitive information. Ask AI to rewrite an email without customer names, use sample numbers instead of actual financial records, and never paste passwords or API keys.

Turning off training doesn’t mean your data is never stored. Always check your provider’s policies and follow your company’s rules.

A cyberattack doesn’t have to end in stolen data to have a major impact.

The attempted cybersecurity breach at UTSA is a good example of how quickly an incident can disrupt operations for a large organization. Systems can go offline, employees get pulled into response and recovery, and if the attack goes further, the impact can include exposed data, financial losses, compliance issues, and loss of trust.

Cybersecurity is not just about preventing attacks. It’s about detecting them early and limiting the damage.
