When "We've Never Had an Incident" Stops Working
It's the most common confidence signal in an MSP sales conversation. Clean record. Fifteen years. No breaches.
Not a bad thing to say. Just no longer sufficient.
Insurers and procurement teams aren't pricing on historical clean records anymore. There's a shift underway where more weight is going toward control validation. The absence of incidents doesn't confirm the controls that prevented them are in place and functioning.
A clean history is a lagging indicator. Verified controls are a leading one.
MSPs built around "we've never had an incident" are increasingly running into prospects who want something more specific, and competitors who can provide it.
Independent certification gives you both: a verified posture and a story that doesn't depend on luck holding.
