The clipboard works. Nobody’s arguing that.

But it comes with a cost most teams don’t actually stop to measure.

You see it in the time ➡️ writing everything down in the field, driving it back to the office, re-entering the same data, then turning it into a report. For a team running 3–20 techs, that adds up to dozens of hours a week on admin that doesn’t generate revenue.

You see it in the errors ➡️ missed fields, illegible notes, incomplete deficiencies. Someone in the office has to call the tech, double check the work, and redo parts of the report. That rework eats into time and margins.

You see it when records are hard to track down ➡️ especially when an AHJ asks for a report from 18 months ago. Finding the right document can take hours… if it exists at all.

And you see it in revenue ➡️ deficiencies that get documented but never quoted, proposals that go out but never get followed up on, jobs that get completed but invoices go out late. Each gap is money left on the table.

Individually, these don’t feel like major issues.

But over time, they add up. And they tend to show up in the same places: slower handoffs, more rework, and gaps between the work done and the work that actually gets billed.

That’s really the difference between a process that works and a workflow that’s built to scale.

Your clipboard got you here. But it's costing you more than you think.

The clipboard wall is growing.

Contractors from across the country have been sending in their clipboards, and honestly, some of these have seen things. Coffee stains from 2004. Handwriting that would make a pharmacist proud. Duct tape holding the clip together.

Here are a few of our favorites so far.

If yours isn't up there yet, there's still time. Snap a photo, send it our way, and you're in the running for a full workspace upgrade. Every new customer gets an iPad.

The raffle closes 5/22. Don't let your clipboard miss the party.

We’re excited to share that Inspect Point and ServiceTitan have partnered up to build a new integration for the fire & life safety industry.

By connecting inspection workflows with service operations, our integration aims to improve data flow between teams, ensure NFPA compliance, reduce administrative overhead, and create a more streamlined experience from inspection to service work completion.

We're currently hard at work on development, so stay tuned for updates as the progress continues and we work together towards a more unified workflow for fire & life safety contractors.

Fire protection teams are being asked to do more than ever right now.

More compliance requirements. More documentation. More operational pressure.

That’s why events like the 2026 NAFED Conference & Expo are such a valuable opportunity to connect with others across the industry and talk through the real-world challenges teams are navigating every day.

If you’ll be attending on May 14, stop by and connect with Eden Semel, Jenn Doyle, and Kristi Stoyak for a live Inspect Point demo and conversation around streamlining inspections and compliance processes.

Looking forward to connecting with everyone in Cleveland.

Going digital isn’t about scanning your paper forms into a PDF.
And it’s not about filling out the same clipboard on a tablet.

It’s about replacing the entire workflow.

When a contractor makes the switch to a platform like Inspect Point, here’s what actually changes:

In the field ➡️ inspections get completed on pre-built, code-compliant templates. Photos, notes, and signatures are captured on-site—and tied to the right building automatically.

Back at the office ➡️ everything syncs instantly. Reports are reviewed and sent without re-entry. Deficiencies turn into proposals with photos, code references, and pricing in just a few clicks.

Through to revenue ➡️ proposals become work orders. Work orders become invoices. Nothing falls through the cracks.

That’s the difference between “going digital” and actually upgrading how your operation runs.

There was a time when the clipboard was the system.

Every inspection ran through it. Notes, deficiencies, job details—your whole workflow lived on those pages.

And for a long time, it worked.

It kept things moving. Maybe not perfectly, but well enough to get the job done.

But that was then.

Now, inspections don’t stop in the field. They move into reports, service, compliance—everything that happens next.

And somewhere along the way, the clipboard stopped keeping up.

So we’re giving it the send-off it deserves.

Send us a photo of your clipboard and you’ll be entered to win a full workspace upgrade—built for how fire & life safety teams actually work today.

Want a few extra entries? Tag us or book a demo.
And if you become a customer during the campaign, we’ll send you an iPad.

It's had a good run.
Now it's time to let it rest.

When we first launched Inspection Assistant, the goal was simple:

Help you catch mistakes before you leave the job site, meaning fewer callbacks, cleaner reports, and a lot less back-and-forth between the field and the office.

But we know the work doesn't stop there. So we built the next layer into Inspection Assistant.

These updates focus on what happens after the inspection — helping teams take AI feedback and actually use it across review, coaching, and how work moves from field to office.

We broke down all four updates this week on the blog.

You’ve upgraded just about everything over the years.

Pagers turned into smartphones.
Fax machines disappeared.
MapQuest got replaced by GPS.

But somehow the clipboard stuck around.

A lot’s changed in fire & life safety. Things move quicker, expectations are higher, and there’s less room for things to slip through the cracks.

Yet for a lot of teams, inspections are still being done the same way they were decades ago: with pen and paper.

And that’s usually where things start to slip. Inspection notes pile up, reports take longer to turn around, and follow-ups don’t happen as quickly as they should.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We’re collecting clipboards from contractors across the country and turning them into something better—a chance to upgrade how you work.

Snap a photo of your clipboard and send it in. That’s your entry.
Want better odds? Tag us, book a demo, or take the next step.
And if you become a customer during the campaign, we’ll send you an iPad on us.

Your clipboard’s had a good run.
But it might be time to retire it.
