Thank you, Business for Good Foundation, for celebrating our 10th anniversary with us in such a special way—and for supporting us from the beginning!

Digital skills can change a life. Hear directly from Can Code trainees as they share what those skills have meant to them, in their own words.

These stories are why we do this work—and why we’re proud to be in coalition across our communities, including the Digital Equity Coalition of the Capital Region (DECCR), the New York State Digital Equity Network, the Alliance for Digital Equity in Western MA, as well as an Affiliate member of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA).

Everyone deserves the computers, internet access, skills, and support to participate in an increasingly digital and AI-reliant world.

📣 The digital divide isn’t gone, and as AI continues to reshape how we live and work, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in our increasingly digital world is more important than ever.

Ahead of the 2026 NYS Digital Equity Network Conference, Can Code Communities Founder & CEO Annmarie Lanesey joined Eliot Cresswell of the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) to talk about the digital divide, the growing impact of AI, and why collaboration across New York State matters.

Please join us on Tuesday, September 29 at the University at Albany for NYSDEN’s 3rd Annual Digital Equity Conference, “Revisiting NY’s Digital Divide: Solutions for Reaching the Disconnected.”

The conference will bring together leaders, practitioners, policymakers, educators, nonprofits, and community advocates from across New York to share solutions, strengthen partnerships, and continue building a more digitally inclusive future.

We’re proud to be part of this important statewide conversation and hope to see you there!

1 Hour Left to Donate this !!

Three years ago, Johnny Blevins quit his job to learn how to code.

Today, he works in IT as a Senior LAN Administrator for the New York State Appellate Division, Third Department.

Johnny was already a manager—but he was tired of managing technical work he didn’t fully understand. He wanted to know how to actually do the work.

So he bet on himself.

He started learning to code and found Can Code Communities, where he studied web development, Python for data science and AI.

“I’m in my 30s, so pivoting seemed impossible.”

Turns out, it wasn’t.

Today, Johnny works with scripts, cloud technology, networks and IT systems—and says he feels more secure about his future than ever before.

This is what access to education can change.

On Mohawk Valley Gives, help Can Code Communities give more people the skills, community and opportunity to build what comes next.

“It’s just a machine.”

That may sound simple now, but taking the first step was scary for Julissa Ceballos.

After spending years raising her children and managing the symptoms of fibromyalgia, Julissa was ready to consider returning to work. But worried her computer skills were no longer strong enough; and as someone who had always considered herself more artistic than technical, she questioned whether she belonged in a technology classroom at all.

“I was terrified… simply of looking dumb in the class.”

CanCode Communities helped Julissa move through that fear, build her confidence and realize something important: She could do this.

Today is Mohawk Valley Gives. Your donation can help another person take that same brave first step toward new skills, greater confidence and a new career opportunity.
