If my mum told me she had been running a secret shopify site, I would tell her to fix these things first. Socials first. Pretty photos. A theme that “looks premium.”

Worst order to fix a Shopify store in.

Everyone starts at the bottom because it’s the fun stuff. Meanwhile the store leaks money everywhere it actually matters.

“Just get more traffic.”

Cool. More people to a broken checkout just means more people leaving. Traffic’s the last problem, not the first.

“You need better photos.”

Sure, they help. But lipstick on a store with no abandoned-cart email is still a store losing sales every night while you sleep.

“Add a loyalty app, a reviews app, a popup app.”

Now your site loads in six seconds and none of them are configured. Delete two, keep one, watch your speed jump.

The stuff that actually makes money? Klaviyo flows and a checkout so easy your mum couldn’t mess it up. Apple Pay on, no forced sign-up. That’s S tier. Everything else is decoration.

Stop fixing the fun stuff first. Fix the money stuff first.

The 2-minute health check any store owner can do. No developer needed.
1. Open your store on your phone, on 4G, not wifi. Count the seconds until you can tap something. Over 3? You’re losing customers before they see a product.
2. Add something to cart and go to checkout. Any weird jumps, slow steps, or double-ups? That’s where carts die.
3. Go to Settings, Apps. Count them. Over 15? Half are probably slowing you down and doing nothing.
4. Google your brand name. If your own store isn’t the first result, something is broken.
Fail any of these and you’re funding your competitors’ ad budgets.
