What your page visitors actually look at is the overall consistency of your site, a major trust signal! Inconsistency or wrong international formatting of phone numbers in the frontend is a case that most often gets overlooked but where it really matters!

This is where our little extension phone_number comes in. It does one thing: it takes the phone number an editor has already stored—as a tel: link or a raw string—and formats it for output in the frontend.
