The UK’s old copper phone network switches off for good on 31 January 2027, and the deadline won’t be pushed back again.
Most businesses have already thought about their main phone number. The problems tend to come from everything else still running over the old lines: card machines, alarm panels, door entry systems, lift lines and older broadband. Nobody remembers they’re plugged into a phone socket until the day they stop working.
