Smart water management by Quensus drastically reduces water bills by sending notifications with insight into wasted water, and allows remotely shutting off the water supply to prevent water waste and water damage. It's a 24/7 water audit which continuously answers the question: how much are you spending on leaks? This is what an undetected leak looks like when nobody was there to stop it.

A burst pipe on the floor above. No monitoring in place. No automatic shutoff. By the time anyone noticed, the ceiling had already given way.

In high-rise residential buildings, escape of water is one of the most frequent and costly insurance claims. The damage rarely stops at one floor. Water travels through walls, ceilings, and electrical systems, displacing residents and racking up repair bills that can easily run into six figures.

LeakNet monitors every zone of a building around the clock. The moment abnormal flow is detected, the valve closes automatically, and the relevant people are alerted instantly, whether the building is occupied or completely empty.

The best time to install leak detection is before something like this happens.

At 8 Harbord Square, Canary Wharf, we’ve deployed splash sensors across every apartment, delivering real-time leak detection at the point of risk.

In developments like this, leaks aren’t minor issues. They escalate quickly into disruption, damage, and cost.

This is where most buildings fail. Detection comes too late.

By installing intelligent sensors throughout each unit, risk is identified instantly, not after damage has already occurred.

No guesswork. No delay. No reactive firefighting.

Just controlled, measurable protection across the entire building.

This is what modern water management looks like.

A running tap is easy to spot.

But a leaking pipe behind your wall? A faulty valve slowly draining overnight? A broken cistern that's been running for weeks?

That's the water nobody sees and in most buildings, it's costing far more than you could imagine...

LeakNet monitors your entire water system around the clock, catching the invisible leaks before they become expensive ones.

Because the real problem was never the tap you left running.

When a leak starts, every second matters.

Water doesn't wait.

A burst pipe, a failed valve, a sudden flow anomaly, the longer it goes undetected, the more damage it does. In a high-rise building, that can mean multiple floors affected within minutes.

LeakNet monitors your water flow continuously. The moment an abnormal spike is detected, the supply is isolated automatically, no manual intervention, no waiting for someone to notice, no hoping the concierge is on site.

Normal flow. Abnormal spike. Supply isolated. All in seconds.

That is the difference between a minor incident and a major claim.

Escape of Water is now one of the leading causes of insurance claims on UK construction sites.

And the updated Joint Code of Practice (JCOP) makes clear that it is no longer acceptable to wait for a leak to happen before acting.

JCOP requires Active Automatic Flow Monitoring Shutoff (AAFMS) devices to be designed in from the start, installed on both temporary and permanent water supplies, and included in contractor tender processes from day one.

LeakNet is fully aligned with JCOP from first fix through to handover and beyond.
đź’§ Continuous flow monitoring throughout every stage of the build
đź’§ Automatic shut-off the moment an abnormal pattern is detected
đź’§ Full audit trail accessible by project teams, insurers and loss adjusters
đź’§ Transitions from site protection into permanent building operation at handover
đź’§ Endorsed and aligned with CIREG, FPA, LEG and CIPHE guidance

The good news? Systems installed during construction do not need to be removed at handover. One investment. Protection for the lifetime of the building.

What does a “wilder future” actually look like?

As the Waterwise Water Saving Week 2026 wraps up, the focus shifts to long-term impact, not just short-term awareness.

Healthier rivers. Stronger ecosystems. More resilient water systems.

Getting there isn’t about one big change. It’s about consistently reducing unnecessary waste across everything we use.

Buildings play a bigger role than most people realise. They quietly account for a significant share of water use and loss.

If we can improve how water is managed day to day, even in small ways, the wider impact adds up quickly.

A wilder future isn’t abstract.

It’s built through better decisions, repeated at scale.

Most water loss isn’t dramatic.

It’s quiet, continuous, and usually hidden.

As part of Waterwise Water Saving Week 2026, today’s focus is on stopping leaks and protecting habitats.

Across homes, buildings, and infrastructure, small undetected leaks can run for days, weeks, even months. Individually, they seem minor. Collectively, they place real pressure on rivers, wetlands, and water supplies.

The challenge is that many leaks aren’t visible. By the time they’re found, the water has already been lost.

Reducing that loss doesn’t just protect buildings. It reduces unnecessary demand on the natural environment.

Less waste at source means more water where it actually matters.

Last week the Quensus team were on site commissioning our LeakNet system for the 2 Trafalgar Way project with Ark, a major new student accommodation development in London. Every floor will be protected by LeakNet devices, giving the building continuous, intelligent defence against water leaks from day one.

It’s always rewarding to see large‑scale projects choosing proactive protection rather than reactive fixes. Another step toward smarter, safer buildings.
