For a month you’ve seen posts about speakers, sessions, panels, teams on stage. Today's about the people barely in any of these photos, though they should be in every single one.

The ALLBIM NET team. Some of them joined this year for the first time, got thrown straight into the deep end and figured it out fast, without ever letting it show.

A few sat exactly where this year’s students are sitting, years ago, as participants. Now they're the ones running it. We don't say that lightly: it's kind of the whole point of this event, playing out in real time, and it still gets us every year.

And then some who have been doing this for so many editions now that we know, not just suspect, this event just doesn’t work without them.

Nobody asked for a shoutout. We're giving them one anyway.

Five days, one project each, and now… the results.

🥇 First place: STRABAG Team, mentored by Catalin Andrei. Five days ago, this was a blank page. Today it's a trophy.

🥈 Second place: Concrete & Design Solutions Team, mentored by Sorin Lulciuc. This was close to the top, and every detail of what they built shows exactly why.

🥉 Third place: ALLPLAN Team, mentored by Mikko Stachl, Ashef Rahmatullah & Dessainte Louis. A week of hard work that absolutely paid off. Podium finish, fully earned.

❤️ And the one prize the jury had zero say in: the Public's Choice goes to Asociația Națională a Zincatorilor Team, moderated by Sebastian Jula, voted in by all of you. Democracy, but make it architecture!

Congrats to everyone who stood on that stage. Building something in five days that usually takes months is its own kind of win, trophy or not.

One more thing worth mentioning: Team Clivet Romania's mentor, Marius Luțan, was so impressed with his team's work that he added a special prize of his own for them. But tonight's about the winners, so we'll keep the spotlight on them.

Turns out the BIM model doesn't get to retire

George Călin (ALLBIM NET) and Mihai Pavel (VISE Smart Building) tackled what happens to a BIM model after the building gets handed over. Or more accurately, what should happen. Spoiler: it becomes a digital twin, actually put to work in operation and maintenance, not filed away and forgotten.

The day's last panel took on another question: who's actually training the next generation of AEC professionals? Aurel Isip moderated, joined by Sorin-Codruț Floruț, Nicoleta Cobîrzan, and Petre Frătean - universities, companies, and professional associations- all circling the same concern: how do we keep up, together, with an industry that refuses to slow down?

Nobody said "in the future." Not once.

Bogdan Cucoș (KUKONSTRUCT SRL) and Michael Havran (Bluebeam, back for round three) opened with automation and AI, not as some distant vision, but as tools already rewriting workflows right now, while everyone was still on their first coffee.

Then came the dense one: a panel on high-performance buildings, digital projects and what today's standards actually demand from the people building them. George Călin moderated, joined by Horia Petran, Cătălin Lungu, Marius Luțan, Sergiu Petrea and Angela Niță.

The takeaway, bluntly: NZEB and digitalization stopped being optional a while ago. That's just the direction European legislation is heading, ready or not.

Closing it out, Dan Moraru and Diana Culescu talked about city data, building data, and Romania's push to finally track urban green space properly. No negotiation required this time, just better data.

Five days of work. One shot on the big stage. Go. 🎤

Student teams boiled five days of multidisciplinary work down to a single pitch, moderated by Claudiu Roman. Some brought memes. Some brought an actual planning sheet. Some let the pictures talk. Same brief, zero shared personality.

Best projects we've seen at The BIM Challenge yet. Do we say that every single edition? Yes. Do we mean it every single time? Also yes.

Massive thanks to the eight mentors who spent so many days in these teams' corners: STRABAG România, CELCO, ALLPLAN, Concrete & Design Solutions, Clivet Romania, Asociația Națională a Zincatorilor, Ordinul Auditorilor Energetici din Romania - OAER and VISE Smart Building.

Then Louis Dessainte (ALLPLAN GmbH) took the mic, talking about the generation that builds differently - and after that first hour and a half, nobody in the room needed convincing.

You'd think the last day is all pitch decks and screens. Think again.

Final day of student workshops and the morning didn't waste time. Q&A and feedback first, moderated by Aurel Isip and Claudiu Cătălin Roman - last call for every team to ask what actually matters before the big presentation. Then straight into "Polishing Your Pitch," a full team push on getting it right.

Then Diana Culescu gave a presentation that pulled everyone away from the screens for a bit: "Green-Blue Infrastructure: From Design to Real Life Usage", walking through what this kind of infrastructure actually looks like once it leaves the plan and meets a real city.

Worth knowing who was talking: Diana co-founded RPR Birou de Studii Contemporane in 2010, led the Romanian Landscape Architects Association for six years and now serves as General Secretary of IFLA Europe. She also does archery and reportedly maps cities by their food scene rather than their streets.

Sometimes the best break from a screen is someone reminding you design has to survive real life first.

Day one: The last round of tech talks

By the time the final tech talks rolled around, our brains were running on fumes and coffee. The ideas, somehow, were not.

Chris Ray (Eleco) opened with "The Fourth Dimension", on how a BIM model comes alive the moment you link it to the ex*****on schedule, watching a plan change ripple through the model live.

Mikko Stachl (ALLPLAN) followed with "The Automation Bridge" on how ALLPLAN and SCIA Engineer connect to each other through AutoConverter, so engineers stop building the same model twice. The kind of fix that quietly gives you back hours you didn't know you were losing.

Closing things out: Michael Havran (Bluebeam), back for round two, this time on real-time collaboration - on-site and in the office, whole team working off the same data, at the same time. No more "wait, whose version is this?"

And speaking of tools worth having: we're proud to say three new names are joining our portfolio: SiteDocs, GoCanvas and Asta Powerproject. Fitting timing, considering half the day was spent talking about exactly the kind of gaps these three are built to close.

With that, day one is officially in the books with good ideas, sharp questions, and a room full of people who clearly have opinions about where this industry is headed.

Astăzi, la Constanța, Cristian Erbașu, CEO Construcții Erbașu, a participat la „𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐈𝐌 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞”, eveniment organizat de ALLBIM NET, pe care l-a deschis cu o întrebare directă adresată industriei construcțiilor: ”We build. But with what data?”.

În cadrul intervenției a evidențiat faptul că BIM presupune o abordare realistă inclusiv din perspectiva costurilor de proiectare, care trebuie corelate cu nivelul de complexitate și cu cerințele reale ale acestui mod de lucru.

BIM și digitalizarea devin tot mai prezente în modul de lucru al industriei, iar utilizarea corectă a datelor poate susține o coordonare mai bună și decizii mai bine fundamentate.

Construim pentru viitor.
