Every failing bearing leaves a signature in the vibration spectrum.

Outer Race (BPFO), Inner Race (BPFI), Rolling Elements (BSF), and Cage (FTF): Each component generates a specific failure frequency, and the spectrum shows which one is degrading.

The order in which these frequencies appear indicates the stage. BPFO appears early and with clear amplitude. FTF is the most difficult to identify, and by the time it appears, the damage has already spread across the set.

When the rolling starts to make noise, all this progression has already happened.

And in your company, what is the trigger for changing the bearing?

Igor Marinelli, Tractian CEO, takes us inside Tractian’s new Atlanta office and shares what excites him most about the company’s next chapter, where Tractian is headed, and why Coda at Tech Square represents more than a new office. A founder-led look at the people, momentum, and ambition behind what we’re building next.

Mechanical monitoring is the core of what we do, and it takes four signals to do it right:

➡️ Vibration for imbalance, misalignment, and bearing wear.
➡️ Ultrasound for friction and lubrication trouble.
➡️ Magnetic field for rotor and stator faults you can't catch any other way.
➡️ Temperature for early thermal warning signs.

That's the whole mechanical picture on one asset. Then we go further, because isolated signals only give you part of the picture.

Electrical (voltage, power, current) shows you what the motor is being asked to do, and operational (pressure, flow, level, pH, humidity, part count) shows you what the process is doing to it.

One holistic view. The whole asset, not just the components inside it.

Let's talk about what that would look like on your most critical assets.

Most plants still lubricate on a calendar schedule, with standardized intervals and amounts for every asset. But each component degrades at its own pace, so some grease gets over-applied while other points don't get enough.

Both damage the bearing. And by the time you can hear it, the damage is done.
Lubrication Routes use continuous ultrasound to classify each asset by its actual condition and build the day's route by priority.

On their phone, the technician holds the device near the sensor and watches the ultrasound level drop in real time as they apply the grease. Every intervention is logged automatically.

The route stops being a checklist and becomes a decision: the right point, the right amount, with proof it worked.

One week. Teams from across Tractian. A brand-new office to break in.
That was our Sales Summit, and it set the tone for everything ahead.

We brought people together from across the company in Atlanta for a few days of deep product training, honest conversations about the market we're building in, and the playbook for our next stage of growth.

And we did it somewhere special: our new office in the heart of Midtown’s Tech Square, unveiled to the team for the first time. More seats, more rooms, more space to grow into - because we plan to.

The mission hasn't changed: help manufacturers worldwide reduce unplanned downtime and give maintenance teams the tools they deserve. But every time this team gets in one room, it feels a little more inevitable.

To everyone who traveled in, presented, asked the hard questions, and stayed late. This is what building a category looks like.

If reading this felt like something you want to be part of, we're hiring in Atlanta. https://careers.tractian.com/jobs

When Verdantix modeled the ROI of continuous condition monitoring with Tractian, the return came out to 401% over three years.

The more interesting question is where that money actually shows up:

âś” 36% less downtime
âś” 28% longer asset life, fewer catastrophic failures
âś” 16% better asset performance
âś” 10% less overtime

The through-line is earlier fault detection. Catch a bearing before it seizes and you don't just avoid the outage. You plan the fix, run the asset longer, keep the team on their normal schedule, and stop paying premium hours to chase failures in the middle of the night.

Predictive maintenance isn't one saving. It's multiple, compounding.

$1.4M. That’s the average yearly savings Verdantix modeled from continuous condition monitoring with Tractian.

The word doing the work in that sentence is "yearly."

Not a year-one headline. Not a one-plant case study. A recurring line, modeled across five real deployments in food & beverage, automotive, and cement. It shows up in the budget the year the sensors go in… and every year after that.

Most plants still run maintenance like a fire drill.

Manual inspection rounds. Breakdowns that hit in the middle of the night. Fixing things only after they've already stopped the line.

The real cost isn't just downtime. It's the call no one wants to get on a Saturday. The tech who cancels dinner plans. The plant manager explaining to a customer why the shipment is late.

The new Verdantix ROI study on Tractian is worth reading because it puts a dollar figure on the switch from reactive to proactive. But the number that stays with you isn't the 401% ROI. It's the reliability specialist who said, "you no longer get the calls in the middle of the night."

That's the version of the job most maintenance teams stopped believing was possible.

From missing failures to preventing them.

Cadillac Casting had sensors installed. Manual vibration routes on the calendar. Outside analysts on call. A 280,000 sq ft foundry, roughly 500 pieces of equipment, and a lean team doing everything the playbook said to do.

Failures still slipped through. The sensors flagged issues after damage was done, and manual routes couldn't cover the full plant.

Until they switched to Tractian.

âś” A 200 HP motor with bearing wear and failing lubrication, flagged early enough to become a planned swap instead of a catastrophic failure.
âś” A recurring elevator bearing failure caught in time to bring the supplier on-site and fix the root cause, not just replace the part again.
âś” A lubrication issue on a drag shakeout motor flagged at go-live. Greased on the spot. Back to green.

Continuous visibility across every critical asset, and a reliability program that gets ahead of failures instead of reacting to them.
