Ready to build a REST API served directly by MySQL Server?

Get hands-on with the REST Service Component: configure HTTPS, sign in with a MySQL account, and retrieve customer orders as nested JSON using cURL. Then update a delivery note through the API and verify the change in MySQL.

Try the walkthrough:

In our previous blog, we introduced the MRS Component and discussed how it can help web developers access MySQL data with less backend code to maintain. Here, we’ll build a REST API for customer orders. Products, orders, and line items live in a relational schema, and MRS will present that related...

At in Glasgow, our team connected with open source project maintainers and developers to explore ways to work together.

In her keynote, Heather VanCura explored how community collaboration shapes Java and MySQL’s future. She highlighted greater transparency, clearer contribution pathways, and the MySQL Ecosystem Project’s work with Apache projects across Linux, Java, cloud native technologies, AI and data.

Heather, Lilly Berry, and Henrik Ingo continued those conversations at the Oracle JCP/MySQL booth. Thanks to everyone who shared their ideas. We look forward to growing the MySQL ecosystem together!

How can the MySQL community help shape its next chapter?
At MySQL BR Conf in São Paulo, the community came together to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore MySQL’s future. Heather VanCura joined Vinicius Grippa for the welcome, with Oracle supporting the event as one of its main sponsors.

In her session, The Path to MySQL Open Innovation, Heather explored how community feedback is helping shape MySQL’s evolution through greater roadmap transparency, clearer contribution pathways, community governance, and GitHub-based collaboration.

And you don’t have to contribute code to make a difference. Reporting bugs, testing, improving documentation, sharing knowledge, and taking part in user groups all help the community grow.

Building on 30 years of MySQL, the focus is on making it easier for everyone to participate and help shape what comes next.

Introducing MySQL Workbench 26.7.

MySQL Workbench 26.7 is the first release of a new generation of the MySQL GUI administration and development tool, built on MySQL Shell and designed to provide a modern foundation for working with MySQL.

The new Workbench includes familiar development and administration capabilities alongside new and updated features such as SQL Notebooks, updated Visual Explain, SQL Formatter, server status and overview, performance reports, user and grants management, MySQL Enterprise Backup integration, client connection browsing, and HeatWave Migration Assistant.

It is also open source and designed to be easier to extend, giving MySQL users, developers, DBAs, and contributors a modern platform to explore, test, and help shape.
