Sometimes it’s the small things you wouldn’t think of that matter the most, and the flexibility to adapt that leads to the greatest client satisfaction.
Our client, Hobby House, asked us during an event if there was any way we could show the artwork on the screens.
At the time, I was able to use my phone as a camera, cast it through OBS, and put it up on the big screens. While it worked in the moment, it wasn’t a feasible solution for future shows.
So we went back to the drawing board and found a document camera that fit exactly what they were looking for. We integrated it through our ATEM switcher so they could seamlessly switch between their presentation and this new “show and tell” camera.
The client loved it and has requested it at every show since.
What I thought was really cool is that this weekend they found another use for it that I never even considered. Instead of only using it to show artwork, they used it to put the presenter up on the screens while she was speaking whenever there wasn’t a presentation on screen.
A few hours later they sent me a photo of it in action. It wasn’t how we originally intended to use the camera, but it works!
I love working with clients like this.
They come to us with an idea, we find a way to make it work, then we find a way to make it better. Sometimes they take that solution and find even more creative ways to use it than we originally intended.
That’s exactly the kind of collaboration that makes events better year after year.
